Employability Skills Programme

We are the largest provider of the Employability Skills Programme (ESP) in London and last year over 2000 learners accessed this provision. Funded by the Learning and Skills Council, this is a key programme to support adults with Skills for Life needs back into work. Any adult over the age of 18 who is in receipt of benefit and has a basic skills need can access this programme. The programme can last for up to 16 weeks. Learners can study for up to three qualifications during the course: ESOL or Literacy, Numeracy and Employability. We deliver this course at the following branches: Dalston Kingsland, Bayswater, Kentish Town and London Bridge.

Skills Escalator

This is a London Development Agency (LDA) supported programme which is funded through the European Social Fund (ESF). The programme targets refugees, new migrants and asylum seekers. Through this programme we will support 200 learners to achieve ESOL, Numeracy and Employability qualifications. The programme can last for 12 weeks and is available for economically inactive and unemployed adults aged 16 and over. We deliver this course at the following branches: Dalston Kingsland, Bayswater, Kentish Town, Stratford and London Bridge.

City Strategy Pathfinder (CSP)

This is a work focused ESOL Pilot, funded through the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), and administered by the LSC. The key objectives of this programme are to help parents with ESOL needs to improve their employability, progress into work and gain sustained employment. We will be supporting 1060 learners through the lifetime of this project. Anyone who is a parent aged 19+ and who has a child in full time education may access this provision, provided they are in receipt of benefits or child tax credits. Learners come from the Olympic 2012 Boroughs of Hackney, Tower Hamlets, Greenwich, Waltham Forest and Newham. We deliver this programme from our learning centres inStratford and Hackney. We also deliver within the local community through a range of partners.

Skills for Jobs (IT)

This is an employability focused project funded through the LSC/ESF programme. Accessible to learners aged 16 + the provision can last up to 26 weeks. Learners must be unemployed. Learners study for qualifications in IT at Level 1 and 2. In addition, they receive embedded Skills for Life support where necessary and comprehensive employability support. 350 learners will access this programme this year and we deliver from Bayswater and Kentish Town.

Regional Response to Redundancy

Funded by the Learning and Skills Council and delivered in partnership with TBG, this programme is designed to support adults who are at risk of redundancy or who have been made redundant in the last six months. Supporting 350 adults this year in Lambeth, Southwark and Wandsworth – this is a vocationally specific job search programme tailored to meet the recruitment requirements of individual employers. This programme can last from 9 to 75 hours and is delivered in our London Bridge branch.
